About Me
Hello! My name is Nyah, and I am a QUT student in my final semester of a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, minoring in Advertising. My passion for writing came from my love of storytelling, which I developed from a young age. I believe to my core that every moment carries a story with it, and it is a writer's duty to release that story. This is what I look to achieve in my writing both creatively and in a professional and corporate manner.
I am excited to work collaboratively to brainstorm, develop and write new stories that can bring an imaginative landscape into the real and breathing world. With my advertising knowledge I am well equipped to target audiences and generate interest in these creative exploits.

What does a degree in Creative Writing mean?
You could call this the main thing I am asked whenever my degree becomes the topic of discussion. The assumption is that my degree is solely focused on short stories, novels and all things dedicated to fiction;however, this is perhaps a miniscule element. The bulk of my degree has in fact been centred and fixated upon: editing; corporate writing; literary theory; debating of controversial concepts; as well as creative non-fiction in the form of reviews, ghost-writing and memoirs. Even elements of creative work such as the podcast and magazine highlighted under the Collaborative Projects page are underpinned by project management, editing and effective teamwork.
A hobby of mine...
Beyond writing, I'm also passionate about playing soccer. I have been playing soccer for fourteen years now and play at a semi-professional level. This joy of getting to run around and work with a team on the field has cleared my head when I've needed it and enabled me to find inspiration through the joys of life.

                    My work
A favourite genre of mine to read is Crime fiction and YA fiction, these genres have consequently affected the way I write. Although my writing often lends itself to these genres, the content of what I write is guided by the ideas that my mind can run away with and often these are across many genres. However, I love to create work which can transport the reader and allow them to escape the focus and perspective of their own life even for a moment.
